Teach Kids The Bible Podcast

TKTB Revitalization in Progress

June 5th, 2008 by Chanda

Wow, it’s been so long since I’ve posted that I’m sure most have stopped reading. I’m sorry for the long absence.

I wanted to let you know things are changing around here and I’m exciting about what the Lord is about to do!

First, a new episode of the Teach Kids the Bible Podcast will be coming soon. The show will have a great new format and will provide more ideas to inspire parents to share the gospel with their children.

Second, Kids Devotion Junction will be open for the summer with a great ministry for parents looking to bring Biblical instruction to their summer activities.

Third, we are scheduling another thirty-one day reading challenge for the month of July. It was so much fun last year that we decided to do it again.

Also, look for more articles and information to be added to the site in the coming weeks.

Be Blessed!

Help Me Spread The Word About TKTB!

August 21st, 2007 by Chanda

I’m one of the finalist in a contest to win a year’s worth of free publicity help to promote this website.

This would be an awesome opportunity to spread the word about how parents can teach their children the Word of God.

Will you help me out by posting a comment on WAHM Talk Radio’s Blog? All you have to do is post a comment at the bottom of the post with the name of the person you would like to see win the contest. (Hopefully that will be me!)

Thanks for your help in spreading the word about TKTB!

Until next time,
Be Blessed!

Moms of Grace

February 19th, 2007 by Chanda

Last week, I found the most awesome forum for Christian mothers. It’s called Moms of Grace.

Mom's of Grace

There are subsections of the forum that every mother can enjoy. From Pregnancy to raising teens, from Homeschooling to Christian Kids in Public School. From Single moms to Adoptive Moms to Quiver Full moms. There’s a folder for everyone.

There’s even a daily Bible study thread - the current study is, appropriately, on grace.

Drop on by. I’m sure you’ll love it. It’s a blessing to be able to chat with other Christian mothers about the issues to face.

Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays?

December 12th, 2006 by Chanda

I received this poem in an email from a friend. It seemed so fitting because next week, I’m volunteering at my son’s “Holiday Party.”

T’was the month before Christmas When all through our land,
Not a Christian was praying Nor taking a stand.
Why the Politically Correct Police had taken away,
The reason for Christmas - no one could say.

The children were told by their schools not to sing,
About Shepherds and Wise Men and Angels and things.
It might hurt people’s feelings, the teachers would say
December 25th is just a “Holiday”.

Yet the shoppers were ready with cash, checks and credit
Pushing folks down to the floor just to get it!
CDs from Madonna, an X BOX, an I-pod
Something was changing, something quite odd!

Retailers promoted Ramadan and Kwanzaa
In hopes to sell books by Franken & Fonda.
As Targets were hanging their trees upside down
At Lowe’s the word Christmas - was no where to be found.

At K-Mart and Staples and Penny’s and Sears
You won’t hear the word Christmas;
it won’t touch your ears. Inclusive, sensitive, Di-ver-si-ty
Are words that were used to intimidate me.

Now Daschle, Now Darden, Now Sharpton, Wolf Blitzen
On Boxer, on Rather, on Kerry, on Clinton!
At the top of the Senate, there arose such a clatter
To eliminate Jesus, in all public matter.

And we spoke not a word, as they took away our faith
Forbidden to speak of salvation and grace.
The true Gift of Christmas was exchanged and discarded
The reason for the season, stopped before it started.

So as you celebrate “Winter Break” under your “Dream Tree”
Sipping your Starbucks, listen to me.
Choose your words carefully, choose what you say
Shout MERRY CHRISTMAS, not Happy Holiday!

While it looks like they’ve “added some scenes for dramatic purposes.” This still looks like it’s going to be a good movie.

Toys for Tots Refuses Jesus Toy

November 15th, 2006 by Chanda

Does anyone else find it ironic that Jesus can’t even be given away as a gift for the holiday that celebrates His birth!?!?! See the story below from the Associated Press:

Talking Jesus Doll“LOS ANGELES — A talking Jesus doll has been turned down by the Marine Reserves’ Toys for Tots program.

A suburban Los Angeles company offered to donate 4,000 of the foot-tall dolls, which quote Bible verses, for distribution to needy children this holiday season. The battery-powered Jesus is one of several dolls manufactured by one2believe, a division of the Valencia-based Beverly Hills Teddy Bear Co., based on Biblical figures.

But the charity balked because of the dolls’ religious nature.

Toys are donated to kids based on financial need and “we don’t know anything about their background, their religious affiliations,” said Bill Grein, vice president of Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, in Quantico, Va.

As a government entity, Marines “don’t profess one religion over another,” Grein said Tuesday. “We can’t take a chance on sending a talking Jesus doll to a Jewish family or a Muslim family.”

Michael La Roe, director of business development for both companies, said the charity’s decision left him “surprised and disappointed.”

“The idea was for them to be three-dimensional teaching tools for kids,” La Roe said. “I believe as a churchgoing person, anyone can benefit from hearing the words of the Bible.”

According to the company’s Web site, the button-activated, bearded Jesus, dressed in hand-sewn cloth outfits and sandals, recites Scripture such as “I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again” and “Love your neighbor as yourself.” It has a $20 retail value.

Grein also questioned whether children would welcome a gift designed for religious instruction. “Kids want a gift for the holiday season that is fun,” he said.

The program distributed 18 million stuffed animals, games, toy trucks and other gifts to children in 2005.”

If you’d like to give this gift to a child you know, here’s the website: http://www.messengersoffaith.net/Jesus.html
