Recommended: Good Children’s Bible

A few weeks ago, I offered a “Good Children’s Bible” to my newsletter subscribers as a prize.

As it turns out, many parents are looking for a good Children’s Bible so I thought I’d share my recommendation.

I really love the Bible produced by ZonderKidz. My 6-year-old can read it for himself and my 4-year-old can also understand the language. Both of which are very important to me.

I’ve posted a link to it in the new TKTB Amazon Store that I’m filling with all the great Children’s Bible Resources that I recommend.

This Bible has a 5 star rating on Amazon with 48 positive reviews. Check it out here.

Not Exactly The Model Prayer…

We have a special prayer service at our church every Wednesday night. My 4-year-old son Brandon has been attending this prayer service since before he was born.

It’s no wonder he’s picked up a few of my prayer traits over the years.

Usually, if I finish praying before my prayer partner finishes, I usually say words of adoration to the Lord - like ”Thank You Lord” or “I Love You Lord” or “You Are An Awesome God.”

Well - this past Wednesday, Brandon decided to pray with my prayer partner and I. The three of us were holding hands and apparently Brandon finished before we did because as I was ending my prayer I heard Brandon saying….

“Thank You Lord Jesus”
“Thank You Lord Jesus”
“H - I - J - K - L - M - N - O - P”
“Thank You Lord Jesus”
“Thank You Lord Jesus”
“Q - R - S - T - U - V - W - X - Y - Z”
“In Jesus name, Amen.”

Well, like I said, it’s not exactly The Model Prayer - but it was his own personal prayer to to the Lord.

In my imagination, I see Jesus smiling as He listened to my precious son thank him in the midst of his ABCs.

Teaching Children the Easter Story

I’m so excited about this offer that I just had to share it with you!

Nest Family Learning has created an Easter Trilogy pack that helps teach children the true meaning of Easter through animated Bible stories.

I’ve already told you how much my sons and I have enjoyed watching “He is Risen,” the resurrection story.

Now we are going to own “Worthy is the Lamb,” the story of the crucifixion of Jesus and “The Kingdom of Heaven,” which uses parables to teach children about the second coming of Jesus. This is an amazing value - you can own the complete Easter story from Crucifixion to Resurrection to Ascension for less than $20.

You can get all the details on the Nest Family Learning site.

Until Next Time,
Be Blessed!

Moms of Grace

Last week, I found the most awesome forum for Christian mothers. It’s called Moms of Grace.

Mom's of Grace

There are subsections of the forum that every mother can enjoy. From Pregnancy to raising teens, from Homeschooling to Christian Kids in Public School. From Single moms to Adoptive Moms to Quiver Full moms. There’s a folder for everyone.

There’s even a daily Bible study thread - the current study is, appropriately, on grace.

Drop on by. I’m sure you’ll love it. It’s a blessing to be able to chat with other Christian mothers about the issues to face.

What! He’s Not Saying Grace!

I can’t remember how the conversation started, but I asked my oldest son if he blesses his lunch at school. And he laughed and said no.

I don’t know why I assumed he gave thanks when we aren’t around. I guess that was wishful thinking.

My husband told him “I’ve seen what they serve at your school, and you should definitely pray before eating that food.”

I thought maybe he doesn’t say grace at school because at home - the boys have a song they sing to bless their meals.

So I told him he didn’t have to sing a song - he could just close his eyes and say in his head “Thank you Lord for this food.”

He said and what if other people start to do it too?

I told him, then God will be very pleased — and mommy will be too.

Just think, we could get prayer back into schools, one meal at a time!

[TKTB Newsletter] Using Animated Bible Stories

Greetings Parents!

If your children are anything like mine, they love to watch movies and videos. I’m sure your kids have a favorite video that they like to watch over and over too.

Since our children are already passionate about watching cartoon movies, it seems only logical that animated movies would be an awesome way to teach our children about the Lord.

I was able to test this theory last night with my two older boys. They are 6 and 4.

I put in Nest Family Learning’s “He Is Risen” Interactive DVD. I was thoroughly impressed with this movie. It was Biblically accurate, the graphics and music were awesome, and it kept the boys attention the entire time.

After we watched the video, we did the “Adventure Quiz” that comes on the DVD. It was a 10 question on screen quiz that asked questions about the story. I’m proud to say the boys received a perfect score as they remembered all the important details of the movie after the first viewing.

When the quiz was complete, it was time for dinner. My oldest son said to me “I thought you had a puzzle book to go with this movie.” I told him I did and maybe we could do a couple puzzles after dinner. Well, time got away from us and we didn’t get to do the puzzles last night. But when he came home from school today, he asked about those puzzles again. He said he hopes there’s a word search in there.  (There is!)

I highly recommend you check out the Nest Family Learning product line. You can learn more about the resources they provide by listening to the latest episode of the Teach Kids the Bible Podcast where I interview Hillary Morris from Nest. Click here to listen now.

Until Next Time,
Be Blessed!

Get on Board, Little Children

Cedarmont Kids Gospel Bible SongsMy husband bought this cd nearly six years ago when our oldest son was about to celebrate his first Christmas. We LOVED this cd. We would play it all the time.

Then one day it was distroyed - I can’t remember exactly how it happened, but I think it was stepped on and cracked in half.

My husband could not remember where he bought the cd. We couldn’t find it anywhere. But thanks to the magic of the internet - we now have our cd again!!

We particularly love this cd because it has all the traditional children’s Bible songs, but they aren’t all sung in a high soprano voice!

These songs are full of rythum and spirit. These songs are so fun to sing along to - I think I sing louder than the kids!

We highly recommend this cd - check it out at ChristianBook.com.

Cedarmont Kids Gospel Praise SongsI’m also purchasing the Cedarmont Kids Gospel Praise Songs too! (ONLY $3.99!!!!)

My youngest son’s favorite song right now is “What a Mighty God We Serve.”

This cd also has great songs like “Down In My Heart”, “Peace Like A River”, “Come to Jesus”, and “Every Time I Feel the Spirit”.

I hope you enjoy these as much as we do.

Be Blessed!
